Sanderson MacLeod, Inc. is pleased to announce the promotion of Don Sauer Jr. to Controller. Don was hired as Sanderson MacLeod’s Assistant Controller back in November 2012 in preparation for Linda Mitchell’s retirement. He brings a great deal of experience that will add to the Sanderson MacLeod team. He received his MBA in Finance from the University of Connecticut and came to the company most recently from Pepperidge Farms where he was the Assistant Controller. His background also includes time spent at United Technologies Corporation where he was the Manufacturing Operations Controller. Don is no stranger to Sanderson MacLeod. Back in 2003-2004, he worked with the company through CISS as a consultant and implemented the organization’s software. Sanderson MacLeod welcomes Don to their team and congratulates him on his promotion.

On June 21st, Sanderson MacLeod employees past and present celebrated the retirement of one of their finest employees at Worcester’s Bocado Tapas Restaurant. After 32 dedicated years, Linda Mitchell retired from the Palmer-based company that employs more than 100 local residents. Starting out as a payroll clerk in 1981 and working her way to company management, Ms. Mitchell retires from Sanderson MacLeod as the Controller of the corporation.
In a recent interview, Linda had enthusiastic words to say about the company and its diverse collection of employees. “The culture of the organization is very close”, Mitchell cited, “I think they are a terrific team. People really work well together and the culture of making a quality product is very strong. Everyone feels a lot of pride in being a part of it.” Mitchell continued by discussing Sanderson MacLeod’s many local contributions, “As an employer we have a good reputation and our employees enjoy knowing that we support the local community.”
Mitchell, a life-long resident of the area also mentioned the changes she’s seen during her tenure with the company, “Over the 30 years I’ve seen Sanderson MacLeod progress into more computerized and automated systems that allow us to produce better products for our clients. We’re all looking for ways to do things better and more efficiently.” And as for the future of the company, Mitchell notes, “I think Sanderson MacLeod has a bright, bright future because of the ideas presented by the workforce and the ways we seek to make the twisted wire brush better. Sanderson MacLeod’s future is huge and their new products are going to open new opportunities for the company. “
Mitchell displays immense amounts of pride for Sanderson MacLeod’s domestically produced products. She suggests, “It’s important to us to have our product domestically produced, which allows us to support the local community, it allows us to provide jobs locally and we are proud that we are a US employer.” Mitchell goes on to say, “Our customers stay with us and are loyal to us because they know we are making a product in the United States.”
In attendance at the retirement celebration were Sanderson MacLeod’s Owner and CEO, Eric Sanderson, former president Jm Pascale and current president, Mark Borsari. The trio lauded Mitchell on her dedication and commitment to Sanderson MacLeod’s people, product, and progress.
The evening ended with Mitchell, herself, applauding all those around her with a slide show presentation that roasted many current employees. It was all done in the spirit of good natured humor.

Sanderson MacLeod announced recently that the company received the prestigious 2013 Business of the Year Award from the Quaboag Hills Chamber of Commerce. Presented on April 27, 2013 at the Eagle Hill School in Hardwick, MA, Senator Stephen Brewer, State Representative Todd Smola and Chamber President Lenny Weake were in attendance.
Each year, the award recognizes a business in the Quaboag region that demonstrates a commitment to community involvement, business innovation and dedication to maintaining ongoing operations within the valley.
“Receiving Business of the Year just reinforces Sanderson MacLeod’s commitment to the local community,” said Mark N. Borsari, President. “Even though we face one of the most challenging political, social and economic periods in our nation’s history, we remain dedicated to our domestic manufacturing model. We know that through extraordinary teamwork, break through innovations, structured process development and hard work we can compete with any other country in the world.”
During the presentation, Borsari dedicated the award to Sanderson MacLeod’s employees. “Those individuals working overtime right now, those who make it into work during snowstorms to make sure we deliver on time, those who help us get better every day,” he said, “are really the people who make an honor such as this possible.”
Sanderson MacLeod participated in nearly 40 community charities in 2012 and was also the recipient of the 2012 Massachusetts Chamber of Commerce’s “Employer of Choice” Award and Business West Magazine’s 2012 “Super Sixty” Award for growth in Western Massachusetts.
Sanderson MacLeod is a contract manufacturer specializing in twisted in wire products, including twisted in wire medical brushes, cosmetic brushes and general purpose cleaning brushes. Established in 1958, the company employs approximately a 100 people and operates a modern 137,000 square foot facility in Palmer, MA.
