  • Robotics Team Continues Their Quest for National Robotics Championship
  • Director of Manufacturing Excellence laughed, “We were in from the start,” When Talking About Supporting Automation and Technology Education

Palmer, Massachusetts: Twisted-Wire Brush manufacturer Sanderson Macleod recently announced their sponsorship of the 2019 Pathfinder Vocational High School Robotics Team.

This VEX/executioners (team name), coached by Mr. Lussier includes students Micaela Tourtellot, McKenna Martin, Harrison Lavoie, Ethan Griswold, Isaac Curry, Liam Cloutier and team coach Mr. Lussier. Together, the students have been hard at work imagining, designing and programming what will become their competition unit known as “Corporal Punishment.”

Funding such as Sanderson Macleod’s makes achieving their ambition of qualifying for the National Robotics Championship held later this year in Louisville, KY possible, said Pathfinder coach Lussier.

“We were in from the start,” laughed Sanderson Macleod’s Director of Manufacturing Excellence Brian Chechile recently when asked about the funding. “After meeting Harrison Lavoie (Pathfinder student) during a facility tour here and learning more about his team, I could sense their enthusiasm for automation and technology. It’s what we love to see, and of course want to help encourage in any way we can.”

In addition to providing capital resources to purchase the latest robotic parts and equipment needed to successfully compete amongst other top high schools in New England, Sanderson Macleod also committed to provide any travel and lodging expenses incurred should they qualify for nationals.

“Being local, it’s important that companies like Sanderson MacLeod help pay it forward like this when we can,” Plant Personnel Manager Andri Laizer and Plant Technical Manager Chris Breyare added. “When people ask, we’re the first to point out that the future isn’t that far away, it’s often right down the street.”

For more information about the team and their progress, updates may be found on the company’s website (www.sandersonmacleod.com), LinkedIN or their Facebook pages.
