Sanderson MacLeod Named 2019 Super 60 Company

Twisted-Wire Brush Leader Qualifies for Both Revenue and Growth Categories:

  • Sanderson Macleod Recognized as a Super 60 Company for Third Year
  • Company Qualified for Both Categories, “Growth” and “Revenue”
  • Chamber President Touts Strong Regional Economy and Diverse Industries

Sanderson MacLeod (Palmer, MA) has been named a 2019 “Super 60” company, qualifying in both the “growth” and “revenue” categories, the Affiliated Chambers of Commerce recently announced.

This coveted award is presented to organizations in Western and Central Massachusetts that have distinguished themselves as regional leaders for revenue and/or growth.
This year’s winners indicate that our regional economy is strong and reflects the diverse nature of our industries,” said Springfield Regional Chamber President Nancy F. Creed. Sanderson certainly aims to prove that point, blessed to have the best brushmakers in the world all employed in Western Mass. Year after year the region has proven to be a hotspot for engineering and innovation.

Sanderson MacLeod representatives will attend the formal award ceremony October 25,  2019 at Chez Josef in Agawam, MA. This is the third Super 60 award for the company, previously being recognized for fiscal years 2014 and 2018.

Being a Super 60 company carries a special significance for us,” said Sanderson MacLeod CEO Mark N. Borsari. “It reinforces and confirms the work our SanMac team does on a daily basis and reflects the amount of value we provide, not only for the clients we serve, but for the communities in which we live. We thank the Chamber for the work they do and congratulate all of the other 2019 companies.”

Twisted-Wire Brush Leader Honors Past and Present Employees:

  • Sanderson Macleod Revamps Employee Awards Banquet with Luau Theme
  • Retirees Were Given the Opportunity to Tour the Updated Facility
  • Career Milestones Ranged from 5 to 40 years

As a company, it’s always special to be able to celebrate the achievements of our employees. In past years, this has been done in part through the annual Service Awards Banquets, where employees could gather and celebrate their career milestones.

This year, Sanderson MacLeod wanted to try something new. While the annual Service Awards Banquets have always been fun, they were scrapped this time around. In its place, SanMac decided to come up with something truly unique and special, bumping the fun up a notch or two.

September 6th, 2019 set the stage for the first Sanderson MacLeod Employee Appreciation Luau. Set to the theme of a tropical Hawaiin Luau, the event featured food catered by Elegant Affairs, frozen drinks, music, laughter and a very special group of employees (past and present.)

Nearly thirty former employees and guests were included in the event, joining the company for an amazing afternoon of facility tours, music, great food and special recognition. Incredibly, the career milestones ranged from five to forty years of dedicated service to the company.

For SanMac retirees, this was the first time they were able to experience for themselves the incredible improvements that the company has worked so hard over the past few years to implement. Among these new features are the newly updated and improved Brush Innovation Center, a completely redesigned and renovated front office space, and massive automation enhancements on the production floor.

As a company which owes everything to its amazing employees, events like the SanMac Employee Appreciation Luau are a perfect way to recognize and show thanks to the special people who make the continued growth and success of the company possible.

Twisted-Wire Brush Leader Announces Completion of Phase II:

  • Second Of Three Waves of Strategic Automation Investment Completed, Says Company CEO Mark Borsari
  • Automation Includes Proprietary, One-of-a-kind Equipment for Medical, Cosmetic, Gun Care and Industrial Markets
  • Multi-million Dollar Investment Strategy Ambitious, but Critical for Ensuring Client Competitiveness

Leading twisted-wire brush manufacturer Sanderson Macleod announced today the second installation of a three-phase automation retooling effort has been completed—dramatically increasing the company’s capacity, efficiency and technical accuracy of automated part production.

Markets benefiting from proprietary automation include cosmetic, industrial, medical and OEM products requiring multi-part assembly. While these products vary drastically in terms of form and function, they are all produced with the same standards of quality and reliability that have come to be expected from Sanderson MacLeod.

This is the second phase of a multimillion-dollar automation initiative. Phase one (completed in 2018), included nearly a dozen internally engineered and built machines. This initial phase consisted of several new additions to the Sanderson MacLeod production line, including the Rosie II stylet machine which was designed to produce burr free, closed end style designs fully automatically.

“As a company we realize our clients expect our team to constantly be looking for ways to innovate and continue moving our processes forward. To remain a trusted partner, we must be proactive concerning new innovation and problem solving. We must focus on questioning the way things have always been done, and creatively find new approaches that change the playing field,” says Mark Borsari, President of Sanderson MacLeod.

“Our multiyear automation initiative is a perfect example…creating improved paths to increasing productivity, improving product quality and process reliability. Ultimately, we seek to create a twisted wire brush manufacturing facility that represents the best of future manufacturing that is safer, faster and more flexible. Our new automation lends itself to custom cell implementation which provides responsiveness to customer needs like never before.”

Phase II automation includes additional Z-Tip production lines, fully automated medical stylet manufacturing, protective and color marked brush tipping (the company’s new Z-Tip+) and industrial burr brush cells.

Globally recognized for innovation and patented technology (including a recent attachment patent in June 2019) Sanderson MacLeod’s team of engineers and innovators possess knowledge passed down through generations of specialized brush makers. While other companies focus solely on producing products to meet demand, Sanderson MacLeod has long embraced the idea that tradition and innovation can coalesce into beautiful results.

Among the numerous advantages available to Sanderson’s business partners, some of the most important revolve around the ability to conduct on-site engineering, machining and fabrication. In fact, with the recent renovation of the Brush Innovation Center, the SanMac team is able to produce radical prototypes in hours instead of days or weeks.

Sanderson’s existing three-part value proposition includes recent investment in Innovation, Automation, and Integration. Leveraging these innovation sprints with new and improved automation capabilities as well as individualized inventory optimization can save precious time on important product developments.

Sanderson MacLeod is a contract manufacturer specializing in domestically-produced twisted-in-wire products, including twisted-wire medical brushes, firearm cleaning brushes, cosmetic brushes and general purpose cleaning brushes. Established originally as Better Brushes in 1920,  the company employs approximately 120 people and operates a modern 137,000 square foot facility in Palmer, MA.
